BIKE FIT SERVICES

At Flat Tire Co., bike fit is about making your bike work with your body, not against it. Discomfort, fatigue, and handling issues are rarely caused by the bike itself. More often, they come from how the rider interfaces with the bike — at the feet, saddle, and handlebars — and how the bike supports the rider under load.

Our bike fit packages are designed to address those connections in a clear, practical way. Whether you’re looking for basic comfort, dialing in endurance efficiency, or fully optimizing a mountain bike for real trail conditions, our approach focuses on comfort first, control second, and performance that lasts. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions or quick adjustments. Every fit is built around how you ride, where you ride, and what your body needs to stay comfortable and confident on the bike.

STARTING at $50

CLEAT PLACEMENT

Foot Support • Alignment • Power Transfer

Cleat placement and pedal stance play a major role in comfort, efficiency, and injury prevention. Small misalignments at the foot can contribute to knee pain, hip discomfort, and inefficient power transfer.

What’s included

  • Cleat fore/aft and rotational adjustment
  • Stance width evaluation
  • Pedal and shoe compatibility check
  • On-bike assessment and fine-tuning

Who this service is for

  • Riders using clipless pedals
  • Riders experiencing knee or foot discomfort

  • The $50 cleat placement service includes adjustment of existing cleats only.
  • Additional fit items such as wedges, shims, stance-width spacers, or longer mounting screws are not included in the base service price.
  • If additional parts are recommended, options and pricing will be reviewed with you before proceeding.

Contact Point ASSESSMENT

Saddle • Handlebar • Cleat Interface

The Contact Point Assessment focuses on the three primary contact points between rider and bike: saddle, handlebars, and cleats.

Discomfort, numbness, and instability often originate at one or more of these interfaces. This service allows riders to evaluate and demo contact point changes before committing to new components.

This package may address one contact point or multiple, depending on the rider’s needs.

What’s included

  • Assessment of saddle and/or handlebar
  • Demo component installation and setup (as applicable)
  • Saddle fore/aft, tilt, and bar position, grip adjustments
  • Guidance based on riding style, terrain, and comfort goals

How demo parts work

  • Riders may demo eligible contact point components for up to 14 days
  • If a component does not work, it may be returned within 14 days to try a different option
  • If a component works well, the demo item may be purchased

Who this service is for

  • Riders experiencing discomfort at the saddle, hands, or feet
  • Riders unsure which saddle or handlebar works best for them
  • Riders switching disciplines, bikes, or fit positions
  • Anyone tired of guessing on contact point components

Service Notes

  • Demo availability is subject to current inventory
  • Components are paid for in full prior to taking out for demo. Money is kept and applied towards final decision on new touch point set up.
  • The $75 assessment fee covers setup time and applies regardless of purchase outcome

How this fits into our services

  • Ideal as a standalone comfort solution
  • Often used before committing to a full bike fit
  • Removes guesswork from component purchases
